The Diva’s Challenge this week was a UMT challenge involving an interesting tangle, Athitzi by Eleanor Holt. The pattern is just a series of short, parallel lines, but Eleanor produced a stunning effect in her tile.
I didn’t know where to go with this tangle, so I just drew a tile and incorporated Athitzi here and there. By my count Athitzi pops up 7 times in this tile. Can you find them all?
This is sort of like “where’s Waldo?” How fun (and very nice tile).
Not as tough as finding Waldo I think! Thanks Lori!
This is actually a very inspired use of Athittzi. I have a feeling it’s going to become one of my “go to” filling in/background tangles. It works very well in your composition.
Thanks Suzanne! You’re right, I might have another go at it using it in larger areas as a filler or as a main tangle by itself.
Beautiful tile with so many patterns and wonderful combination of Athitzi as a “filler” :-)
I like your shading and the contrast in the tile, really nice!
Thanks Sandra! I wasn’t happy with the shading myself, but I’m happy you like it!
Lovely tile! I did find the Athitzi-s ;-)
Glad you did! Thanks Ilse!
A nice composition and I think your use of Athitki as shading is a great idea. It works well and there was the added fun of looking for them hiding in the other tangles.
Thank you! It came from Laura mentioning that it looked like hatching, so I thought why not try using it to shade.
It worked very well for fill and shading in this tile! Nice work!
Thank you Kate
I think you did a great job with this tangle!
Thanks Annemarie!
Lovely tile! Great idea to use Athitzi as a filler!
Thank you Lonett!
Very nice tile :)
Thanks Lily!
this is an energetic and cheery tile. I like how athitzi appears in so many nooks and crannies, and the patterns go well together. Lots to look at…interesting through and through.
Thank you Heidi Sue!
Haaa! Of course! That’s such a great way to use Athizi! Well done!
Thanks Nat :)
I love the way you used Athitzi. I think this is more of what I would use it for too. Great job!
Thanks Leslie!
