bear fruit

Here’s my submission for the Diva’s Challenge #208, a duotangle of Cubine and Pokeroot. Two of the official tangles, and two simple tangles, but it’ll be interesting to see what everyone comes up with.

John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (ESV)

ripening jetties

After my last tile which was rather dark, I wanted to do a tile that had a lighter feel. I also wanted to play a bit more with Pokeroot as I had a feeling it would look better on a long branch.

I went with plenty of white space and light shading, with Pokeroot falling from the branch as Jetties. Before shading, Pokeroot looked like cherries, but after shading, I think it looks more like oranges! I tried to shade Pokeroot so it would like it was lifted off the paper. The light and airy look of this tile makes me happy.

It’s a String Thing #75 involved TanglePatterns String 75, designed by Maria Thomas, and five of Maria’s tangles, Bales, Echoism, Ennies, Pokeleaf and Pokeroot.

At first I didn’t intend to use all five of the patterns, but as I tangled, they all emerged. I like Ennies a lot. It’s a combination of Flux and Tipple, two patterns that I enjoy a lot. Bales and Echoism have lots of room for customisation as well. I was a little less inspired by Pokeleaf and Pokeroot, but I’m looking forward to see what other people did with them when Adele posts the tiles on Tuesday.
